Origin Story
Colombia Huila Atrocafes comes from the Huila department in southern Colombia — a mountainous region consistently ranked among the world’s finest coffee-producing areas. The “Atrocafes” designation refers to the Asociación de Trabajadores del Campo cooperative, a community of small-scale farmers committed to sustainable, high-quality coffee cultivation. Huila’s unique geography — deep river valleys, rich volcanic soil, and dramatic altitude shifts — creates a natural environment that produces some of Colombia’s most complex and celebrated coffees. Hartford Coffee air-roasts this bean at a medium level to honor the terroir and preserve every nuance the farmers worked so hard to develop.

Brewing Recommendations
Colombia Huila’s clean profile and balanced sweetness make it exceptionally versatile and forgiving for home brewers.
Drip / Automatic Brewer — Most Recommended
Medium grind | 1:15 ratio | 195–205°F. This is the ideal everyday brew for Colombia Huila. Clean, sweet, and satisfying — excellent black or with milk.
Pour Over (V60 or Chemex)
Medium-fine grind | 1:16 ratio | 3–4 minutes | 200°F. Highlights the red apple brightness and caramel sweetness. Bloom for 30 seconds before your first pour.
French Press
Coarse grind | 1:12 ratio | 4-minute steep. Adds body and brings out the wine-like, brown sugar finish. A rich and warming cup.
Espresso
Fine grind | 25–30 second pull | 1:2 ratio. Produces a balanced, low-acid shot with sweet caramel notes. Works beautifully as a cortado or flat white base.
Why You’ll Love It
Colombia Huila Atrocafes is everything you want from a Colombian coffee — clean, bright, sweet, and complex — with the added satisfaction of knowing your purchase directly supports a thriving farming cooperative. It’s a crowd-pleasing daily drinker that still has enough complexity to impress specialty coffee enthusiasts.
Why Air-Roasted
At Hartford Coffee, we air-roast every bean in small batches right here in St. Louis. Air roasting suspends the beans on a bed of hot air, roasting them evenly from every angle without the scorching or smoky char of traditional drum roasters. Small batches mean we can dial in each origin to bring out its unique character — so you get cleaner flavor, brighter acidity, and a smoother cup, every time.

Why your order comes in one-pound bags
However much you order, we pack it in one-pound bags — order two pounds and you get two of them, order five and you get five. There’s a reason we do it this way.
Every bag has a zipper and a one-way valve. The valve lets the gases from fresh-roasted coffee escape without letting air back in, and the zipper seals it up tight after you open it. So you only ever break the seal on one pound at a time. The rest sits sealed and fresh until you’re ready for it.
Most places ship one big bag. You open it, and the clock starts on the whole thing. Ours keeps the coffee you haven’t gotten to yet tasting like it just came off the roaster — because as far as the coffee knows, it did.
