Origin Story
Guatemala Huehuetenango is sourced from one of Central America’s most remote and celebrated coffee-growing regions — the high mountain plateaus of Huehuetenango in northwestern Guatemala. Pronounced “Weh-Weh-Teh-NAN-Go,” this region sits at extraordinary altitudes (up to 2,000 meters), protected from cold Pacific winds by the Cuchumatanes mountain range — the highest non-volcanic peaks in Central America. This unique microclimate allows coffee to ripen slowly and develop exceptional complexity. Guatemalan coffees from Huehuetenango consistently earn among the highest cup scores of any Central American origin, and Hartford Coffee’s air-roasting process at a medium level honors every note the terroir has built into these beans.

Brewing Recommendations
Guatemala Huehuetenango’s bright, complex character rewards clean brewing methods that preserve its citrus and spice notes.
Pour Over (V60 or Chemex) — Most Recommended
Medium-fine grind | 1:16 ratio | 3–4 minutes | 200°F. The pour over is the ideal method to experience Huehuetenango at its fullest. The clean extraction reveals every layer — citrus top notes, stone fruit mid-palate, and the distinctive spicy finish. Bloom 30 seconds.
Drip / Automatic Brewer
Medium grind | 1:15 ratio | 195–205°F. An accessible, reliable everyday brew. The complexity holds up well in an automatic brewer — enjoy it black for the best experience.
Aeropress
Medium-fine grind | 2 minutes | 195°F | inverted method. Produces a concentrated, syrupy cup that amplifies the stone fruit sweetness. One of the most impressive Aeropress coffees you’ll brew.
Espresso
Fine grind | 25–28 second pull | 1:2 ratio. A bright, citrus-forward shot with excellent acidity balance. Makes a stunning cortado or piccolo latte.
Why You’ll Love It
Guatemala Huehuetenango is a coffee that rewards exploration. Each cup offers new layers — a citrus brightness that clears the palate, a stone fruit sweetness that lingers, and a spicy complexity that keeps you coming back for another sip. It’s the coffee for those who want their morning ritual to feel like a discovery.
Why Air-Roasted
At Hartford Coffee, we air-roast every bean in small batches right here in St. Louis. Air roasting suspends the beans on a bed of hot air, roasting them evenly from every angle without the scorching or smoky char of traditional drum roasters. Small batches mean we can dial in each origin to bring out its unique character — so you get cleaner flavor, brighter acidity, and a smoother cup, every time.
